About Deborah Banker
“I believe in helping people find their inner strength—and celebrating the victories they’ve already achieved in life.”
— Deborah Banker, Artist and Founder of Banker Sculpture
Deborah Banker is a sculptor based near the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, where she lives with her husband and their dog. She is the heart and hands behind Banker Sculpture, a studio dedicated to creating meaningful, hand-carved stone artworks that reflect the triumphs and personal journeys of her clients.
Her inspiration was sparked in Paris, as a young art student standing before the ancient Greek sculpture Nike of Samothrace—the Winged Victory. That moment began a lifelong exploration of how myth, beauty, and personal resilience intersect in art. Today, Deborah blends the timeless themes of Greek mythology with the modern stories of those she works with—creating sculptures that are not only visually powerful, but deeply personal.
Deborah has been sculpting and selling her work since 1979. With decades of experience in commissioned art, she has developed a collaborative process that invites clients to share meaningful life experiences, which she translates into expressive three-dimensional forms. Each piece she creates is a tribute to strength, transformation, and the beauty of personal victory.
She has also shared her knowledge and passion for sculpture through teaching, with faculty roles at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, Anne Arundel Community College, St. John’s College, and Glenelg Country School.
Whether you’re commissioning a sculpture to honor a moment of personal growth, or simply drawn to the emotional resonance of her work, Deborah invites you to connect—and to discover the story that can be carved in stone.
